GCSE results

Exam results at Chetham’s are consistently excellent and far above the national average. This is especially impressive as the School selects solely on musical potential, not on academic ability. Many students take GCSE Music exams a year early in Year 10, and some also take language exams early.

We are delighted that each year around 90% of students continue into Sixth Form at Chetham’s after reaching the end Middle School, building on their academic achievements while taking their musical skills to the next level.

Are you interested in joining Chetham’s for Middle School? Come to our Middle School Open Day on Saturday 18 October 2025 or book an Advice Audition today.

As with all schools nationwide, GCSE Results for 2022 were graded through the standard examination assessments seen pre-2020. Since it was not possible for most students to sit in-person exams for 2020 and 2021, the results for 2022 reflect these circumstantial differences.
